Sherwood Cycling Club
The Lighthouse Trophy 1953 & 1955
In the last Acorn News, Ed made a statement that the Sherwood Cycling Club to his memory had never won the Lighthouse Trophy, this quickly prompted Lin James, who had WON the trophy while riding for Sherwood CC in September 1953. The club won the trophy again 1955, Barry Shelton was one of the team riders in that event.
The Lighthouse Trophy, for the best team of five riders, originates from the name of a café that used to be at Gunthorpe and served as headquarters for many local time trials.
