first PC. You may recognise me from the club runs which I attend whenever I can,
work permitting. From what I've seen, your web site looks great! See you in the
not too distant future hopefully. Have a good Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

I received a copy of the March 2000 issue of the Acorn Newsletter yesterday,
and I was intrigued by the article that John Watson wrote, about our little jaunt
to Skegness in 1951. Would you believe, that I cannot recall anything about that
bike ride, I must have been in a shocking state to say the least!! I have not
heard from John for years perhaps you could pass this message on to him for me
please. I have started bike riding again after a 30 year gap, and I joined the
W.V.C.C. 18 months ago.

It now gives me the opportunity to contact the old club. In my last e-mail I
made an error, regarding the date I joined. I joined the Sherwood Cycling Club

I wish to convey my sincere thankx to one of your members...Rod Corbett. I promote
the DVCCA 10 each year and Rod (who is not a member of our Association) rides
each year and then helps out as and when required. Our event is run on a shoe-string
and people like Rod (who give up their free time) help to make these events happen.

As a newcomer to the net, I was fascinated to read the story by John Watson entitled "Albert

is quite right in every detail. This incident and many more made our lives so
much richer through our association with so many good friends.

Has anyone had problems using Dave Hinde for mail order? I ordered a set of Campag
Record wheels just after Christmas complete with Record cassette which I asked
them to fit. The wheels turned up in around a week with the wrong coloured alloy
nipples and tyres (isn't that the purpose of a custom build? they just used whatever
else they had). The cassette wasn't fitted and turned out to be wrapped in kitchen
towel and was a Daytona (around £50 cheaper). A phone call got a sort of apology
and I immediately returned the cassette. Four weeks later and several jackanory
stories later I still don't have my cassette. So come on let's diss the crap
shops and poor service and perhaps they might sort out their act. I always find
Ribble is good and locally Sherwood Pines Cycles is very cheap and friendly.

Wonderful to see the club bigger and even more successful than in the 60s. It
was great to read about you winning the Lighthouse Trophy. We (Dave and Colin
Riddell, Rob Bright, Pat and Paul Gutteridge, Ed and Rob Ward + others) would
dream of winning it in our day, but since the plan required us to all do PBs
(less 2 mins) we never got close. Even after 35 yrs I am still in the habit of
checking the Evening Post to see where the club-run (sorry, 'training run') is
going each weekend and who won the 10 mile TT. Good to see Ed W. and Pat G. still
going strong and looking at the other names, it looks like the sons & daughters
of other riders from the 60s are making their mark too. Excellent web site: well
done everyone. Good luck in your racing.

Pleased to find your website and names I remember. I have good memories of you
guys, on anf off the bike in the mid 1960's. Greetings to old friends Rob Bright,
Dave and Colin Riddell, Tony Jarrow, Trevor Beal, Pat Gutteridge, Rob and Ed
Ward, and others who may remember me. It would be good to hear from you again.
Good to see Sherwood CC doing well, we had some good competition in the 60's.
Pity some of the other Notingham clubs no longer exist.

0500 Tuesday nightshift. Ward 19/S.A.U. Leiceter Royal Infirmary. Staff nurses
are usually bored at about this time of the morning... Sherwood cycling club
has evolved with the times yet some things remain just the same...Ed. Not been
a 'regular' on 'the parrots' for a while now but it was good to see 34 people
riding out into the Vale last saturday morning. The renaisance has began. The
most i ever saw was 51, 13 years ago...back in the day. Wilko, Adgar et-al. Ed
in the front group on the burn up! Who remembers Doris crashing in the Ford at
the back of Oxton island one January day? He got up and rode to the cafe wet
through. whatever, saturday morning clubruns continue to make my saturdays, the
best days, when i get the day off work! Well done all. Gota go do the morning
drugs round. Looki

I live in California...we do not have access to any European races. The cycling
television coverage her in the US is horrible. Is there any British cycling fan
out there that can give us American cycling fans assistance by taping the races
from Eurosport for us? Hope to hear from you soon....thanks again!! Do visit
us at: http://www.bicyclegroup.com Our next ride will be in the deserts of Arizona!

After not seeing John or Eunice since about 1953, I was fortunate to meet them
at last November's Club Dinner. Whilst John told me that he was ill, I didn't
realize the seriousness of his situation.I wish with all my heart that I'd known
what I know now,but it's too late. I can't say how sad I am, after thinking of
some of the lovely times that we had with both John & Eunice,on club runs, social
events and racing occasions. My heart goes out to dear Eunice and Craig over
their tragic loss. Jack Sharp.

Me and my friend are both 14 and have both aqquired starter racing bikes. We
are both looking for a club to join and he found your site but did not see anything
about a youth club. If you do run a youth club I would be very pleased to know
about it. Thanks Ben

Well done to Nigel and the team for retaining the Lighthouse Trophy. You have
got a great team. I wish we could give you a bit more competition but at the
moment we can't. We will continue to plug away. We will have to get a social
night together this winter. I reckon we could give you a run for your money at
darts.

A new website has been launched with the aim of helping people in sports and
leisure activities find their lost property; the website is www.lostkit.co.uk.
Report any property you've lost at any event, race or meeting across the UK and
we'll try to track it down, or if you've found something, report it and we'll
hopefully find the owner. Please inform your club members and advertise and use
the service - it's free!! http://www.lostkit.co.uk many thanks Rick
