It has always been our philosophy, to ensure wherever possible, that hardware can be upgraded to the latest specification.

Generaly all  EW barographs and flight recorders can be upgraded to the latest specification relating to that type of unit. This means that the earliest keyboard and LCD model barograph could be updated to the latest IGC approved Keyboard and LCD model Flight Recorder (upgrade of early barograph only models is temporarily unavailable).

Over the years there have been a large number of changes and the cost of upgrade will therefore vary according to which model you have. Please contact us directly for pricing of upgrades not listed on the web site.

A list of the most popular various versions and special options we have produced is listed below. You can have your existing unit modified to any of these options.

The version number of the  units can be identified by the prefix to the serial number. i.e. 9305B1234 where 9305 is the version number. The first two digits indicate the year and the second two the week. These can be found on printouts and .EWT files.

Barograph B model.
Altitude range increased to 12.32 Km

Barograph C model. 
Altitude range increased to 15 Km.

Flight recorder A, B, and C models
Memory increased x4 and NMEA 0183 recording introduced

External static port conversion.
For use in pressurized cockpits and balloon capsules

Long Duration model.
Developed for round the world balloon flights,  this version has setup and recording parameters to facilitate flights likely to take weeks rather than hours.

Model A, B, and C IGC approved flight recorder. 
This is the latest version of the keyboard with LCD model. Serial number prefix 9815 was IGC approved from Aug 98.
The earlier IGC approved version 9716 can be upgraded for only £25

Model D Igc approved flight recorder.
This is the latest production model of IGC approved flight recorder. Current version prefix is 9942. A B and C models cannot be updated to model D versions.
