KPW 986

KPW 986 has been taken into care by the group on behalf of Dawn Reid. Much remains to be done following two previous starts on restoration, but we are optimistic that she will be back on the road before too long.

Now, which gear is that?
KPW spent her working life with Eagle Coaches of Norfolk until 1978

"Home once more!"
Is that my old mate in there?
The rear end looked quite good whilst the panels were still on.

Although a considerable amount of the timber framework had already been replaced at the front of the coach, much remained to be done at the rear.

Following removal of the external panelling (the interior had for the best part already been removed), Kevin swiftly stripped out and replaced approximately 80% of the framework at the rear.

By the 7th January 2001, the hammers and screwdrivers had been busy re-fitting and in some cases replacing the panelling.

It was a joy to follow Kevin, as everything went back into place virtually without adjustment.

The next job is the front dome, where we know that matters are not going to be quite so simple.
