What the devil do you want that for ?

The Customs people could not understand this !
RF16 is seen upon her return from Ireland

As with RF12, the clock is now ticking for RF16 towards the RF50 event. Work has really started in earnest this year, and some additional accommodation for removed parts has allowed us to really get to grips with the underside.

As with our GS, RF16 needed a thorough overhaul (and some)

Dem Bones, Dem Bones!
Removal of the panels revealed extensive corrosion of the framework

Frame sections (mainly the uprights) are being replaced where necessary

Rivet, Rivet!
Selected framework parts from RFs 35 & 43 are being modified and used

Most of the mechanical units have now been removed

Wot No Engine!
The underside is seen here following a visit from the sandblaster, and Ray's spray gun

Is this going to go back in without a fuss?

Who put that new framework in the way?
The good weather during the early part of 2000 enabled us to press ahead with the re-build, and a landmark was reached on All Fools Day with the re-fitting of the original engine (complete with vertical oil filter). Also visible are the replacement upright framework pillars, which had been refurbished following recovery from RFs 35 & 43.

15th April 2000 - Has RF16 given up her final secrets?
Somehow we think not (yet)! 3 coins were found whilst the seat frames were being removed, all caught in the mounting brackets. The Irish coins are dated 1948 and 1971.

14th March 2001 - Some help from Cambridge!
RF35 has always been intended as a donor vehicle, and her time has now well and truly come. In addition to providing framework and parts for RF16, the floor frame is now required to form the basis of a new deck for the Wincher
