electrical engineering. I've been involved with Operational Support Design for BT advanced data services (ATM-CellStream, SMDS, FBS, SHDS.) since October '95.
This has included High level designs, Feasibility Studies, data models, support network requirements, back-up strategy, security and millennium issues.
I am currently design team leader for FBS and SHDS, which means I cover all Operational Support Systems used to manage the products and meet customer requirements.
This involves working with product teams, marketing, operational units and delivery managers etc; plus working across product lines to get shared solutions to common problems, including with MCI and liaison with suppliers - including NetExpert, Newbridge & GPT/Siemens.
I began work with BT as an apprentice in September '71 maintaining customer and exchange equipment. In 1979 I started in software development with the Maintenance & Control Subsystem for System X. Since then I have mostly been involved with network management systems development involving C, VMS implementation and CMIP.
I am a trained TickIT auditor,
, qualification from Neville|Clarke August '93,
and I regularly perform internal BT audits to ISO9001.
