As a seventeen your old living in Ruislip Gardens there was not much to do when the bike was off the road (Pre Triumph days), but one stop on the train to West Ruislip we had the Bromburger Burger bar next to the station and half a mile down the road there was the Fox and Geese pub.
One early evening outside the pub we saw a large mongrel dog hanging around. By closing time the dog was still with us, it had a collar on it with an address Pole Hill Road Hillingdon about three miles away. My mate Brian Sadler had the bright idea of taking it home on his Arial Arrow with me on the pillion and the dog between us.
All was well until half way up Long Lane when we overtook a bus and the lights must have spooked the dog and it wanted to jump off at fifty miles an hour.
Eventually all three of us arrived safely at the dogs residence we knocked on the door and the lady opened the door looked at us and said oh he always runs off, with that the dog ran inside and she shut the door without even a thankyou.
Still that was our good deed for the day.
