I mainly work as a visiting homeopath based in central Bristol. I tend to work in and around the Bristol area but am happy to travel further afield. The cost of travel for a longer distance can be offset by seeing a few members of the family or friends on one journey. It is also possible to follow up visits with phone consultations.

I can also see you in a treatment room in Windmill Hill, Bristol if you prefer. Click here for the location.

Sessions are relaxed and unhurried, with the time and space to allow you to tell me all that you wish to be improved and for me to help you focus in on the areas that appear most relevant. My job is to find the remedies that will best stimulate your own natural and individual healing process.

I also aim to help you feel more able to understand or connect more fully with your problem/s and to see them in a way in which you feel personally empowered.

what I treat

All kinds of people see me for all kinds of problems. Basically, homeopathy can help with practically any physical, mental and emotional problem. Do contact me if you feel you'd like to discuss your particular situation before committing yourself to an appointment.

your consultation

For an adult (and for many children aged 14 and above) the initial consultation lasts for up to two hours.

I find out as much information as possible to choose the remedy to begin your treatment. This includes:

  • details of your presenting complaint
  • any other problems you may have
  • a detailed overview of your body and its characteristics
  • how you are as a person
  • what you like and are attracted to
  • what kind of things you are sensitive to or react to
  • events in your life which may be relevant to your present condition

and then what?

You receive a remedy either during the consultation or after I have done some further study on your case.

Depending on your particular needs, we discuss how best to follow up your treatment. The first follow up session is usually 3 - 6 weeks after the first. Follow up consultations last for up to one hour and include an assessment of your progress and a review of your aims for future treatment.

The review and assessment of your progress is structured and continuous throughout your treatment.

You may want to leave all the decisions up to me or you may prefer to begin to take on for yourself such things as when to make further follow up appointments or even when to repeat taking a remedy. With guidance, I find most people are eventually able to judge the best frequency of repetitions of their remedies and have often reported feeling more positively engaged in their healing through this.

urgent and acute treatment

I'm not easily available to deal with urgent or acute problems unless they are part of treatment coming directly from the consultation we have. You can call the Homeopathy Helpline which is a professional service available from 9am to midnight each day. This service costs £1.50 per minute and the maximum call duration is usually 10 minutes, frequently much shorter, and is charged directly to your phone bill. The telephone number is 09065 343404.

my background

I am a Registered member of the Society of Homeopaths (RSHom) and have been practising homeopathy professionally in Bristol since 1987.

After graduating in Social Psychology at the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1984, I began training with Misha Norland at The School of Homeopathy in Devon, qualifying in 1987. This training focussed me in the discipline of "classical" homeopathy and taking time to hear the whole story of my patients.

I continue to develop my skills and now include other methods of prescribing beyong the "classical" model, whilst maintaining that approach as the basis and as an aim.

Since 1980 I have studied yoga, including a 2 year British Wheel of Yoga teacher training course and teaching weekly yoga classes from 1987-93. The yoga had a significant effect on the way I practised homeopathy, and developed into the work which created Well Mother with Suzanne Yates in 1990. I was a partner in directing Well Mother until 2006.

Between 1998 and 2005 I was involved with the Society of Homeopaths developing a course, teaching, mentoring, and assessing qualified homeopaths to enable them to achieve registration (RSHom).

In the homeopathy section of this site you will see details of the homeopathic proving of a remedy I made up myself from the light of the planet Venus and another remedy some colleagues and I made from Pink Alabaster that was collected from Blue Anchor Bay near Minehead.

Other Homeopaths

If you are looking for a homeopath you might consider the obvious in making your choice like their experience, whether they are male or female, how much they charge and recommendations you have of them. It can also be useful to think of your specific needs, like finding out how urgent and out of hours problems may be dealt with, especially if you are thinking of taking your child, or someone who is severely ill to consult them.
