promoting positive exchange between people of all spiritual and humanistic beliefs, and religious traditions
Who we are
Hello from the Volunteering Spirit team, Chris Davidson and Chris Wilkinson. We have known each other thirty years and though we have seen each other grow and change we have always both been concerned about both religious and spiritual harmony throughout the world.

Back in 1991, Daisy aged 1, Merry 5, Joanna (my partner) and me set off to Spain in a twenty year old Land Rover. We bought what was in effect a field but over the next ten years with the help of over 200 volunteers (including a 5 piece Venezuelan rock band) grew vegetables and planted many trees. The volunteers were mainly from the WWoof (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) a wonderful organisation
Our children particularly loved the volunteers passing through. For years we choose not to have a television with our kids sitting boggled eyed listening to the volunteers' exciting tales of travel and adventure.
It was during these years that I thought it would be great if there was a volunteering website linking people with spiritual and religious beliefs and so sharing not only tasks but also common ground. So a few years later Volunteering Spirit was created.
As for my beliefs I have always known there is a lot more and for many years I have worked within/and been interested in Shamanism and Buddhism. I spent over 9 months travelling in India and Nepal. My path after many years has become clearer with loving kindness taking a central role and thankful there is still a feeling of there being 'a lot lot more!' both in me and out there.
At this stage of my life I am a truck driver also volunteering as a plumber at a number of local Buddhist centres and maintaining the Volunteering Spirit web site.

I've spent most of my life as a homeopath and have taught yoga for several years. I helped my partner set up Well Mother in 1990, a major part of which was putting it out on the web in those early days, which very quickly resulted in teaching around the world.
I've known the other Chris since we shed our milk teeth, and there's always been a significant spiritual and ecological side to our friendship. This project is one practical result of all that.
My experience of volunteering is in helping out locally. I've been involved in community projects and experienced the positive that comes from that both for me and the community.
Within Volunteering Spirit, I aim to bring a useful tool for people to use in guiding their wanderings, encouraging opportunities for people to experience the boundless spirituality in the world.
