So, why do we think the
Wheelhome Sprintaway is so special?
Well, for a start Wheelhome take a different
approach;
Our overriding aims when we designed the Sprintaway were; safety, quality, ease of use (even by single or less able persons of any age) and the highest levels of comfort we could achieve for two people. We believe we have achieved this through carefully considered design and by hand building every Sprintaway to order using very high quality manufacturing materials and techniques. The Sprintaway Lux has a very high level of equipment as standard, many of which would normally be extra on other caravans, if available at all.
This hand built process inevitably takes longer to build and involves the use of more costly equipment /materials, for example, we fit a compressor fridge - not a gas one, that costs nearly twice as much but requires no annual servicing - and is easier to use, so saving you money over the years. We believe that these features will ensure your Wheelhome Sprintaway will be very sort after (as have our Motorcaravans for the last twenty years) with residual values being higher than the norm.
Whole vehicle life costs; Although the Sprintaway may have a higher initial purchase price than it's contemporaries we believe the Sprintaway represents an excellent investment and value for money, especially when "Whole vehicle life" costs are taken into account, these are all the costs associated with owning a vehicle (caravan) for it's entire service life, these factors include the initial purchase price and the following;
Fuel economy whilst towing; Sprintaway is smaller, lighter, and more aerodynamic which gives better M.P.G. and consequently less strain from the tow car.
Smaller tow car; Smaller, lighter, more aerodynamic means the Sprintaway can be towed by a smaller car (typically 1300 cc or more).
Free to tow on French motorways; Sprintaway is free to tow here due to it's compact size.
Garageable; Those customers with a garage can save storage charges because the Sprintaway will fit comfortably inside a standard domestic garage, and with the door at the back the interior remains accessible.
Security features; Alko safety hitch, High security Fiamma door lock. Garageable. Can transport bicycles inside (even most tandems!).
Annual servicing; Sprintaway's systems are simple to maintain, for example, the only gas appliance is the hob which does require an annual check as does the running gear (brakes over-run coupling etc) these require similar servicing to other caravans.
However, the compressor fridge, auxiliary battery and Solar panel are all maintenance free, the optional water heater is 230 volt only and again requires no maintenance apart from draining down if temperatures are likely to fall to freezing. For these reasons the Sprintaway is able to be serviced far quicker than a conventional caravan - which of course should result in lower bills.
Safety features;
We fit Tyron safety bands inside all wheels (including the spare where fitted) these prevent the tyres coming off of the wheels in the event of a puncture.

Safety features cont;
Inherent stability is ensured due to a very low centre of gravity and low overall height. An Alko AKS 1300 stabiliser is fitted to give even more peace of mind. Indespension soft ride axle. At only 1680 mm (5'6") wide the Sprintaway body does not protrude beyond that of most small cars.
Rounded aerodynamic fibreglass body means minimal effect from passing lorries or crosswinds. Flame failure device on hob. Fire retardant foam and upholstery. Fire extinguisher. Two reversing lights and two fog lights for better visibility.
Comfort and convenience;
Carver mover for easy, single handed manoeuvring, wide access door at rear with built in step 300 mm (12") from ground so no need for a portable step in most cases. Conveniently positioned water and mains hook up connections 600 mm (24") off the ground, saves getting on the ground (bending your back) to connect like other caravans. Optional on board water tank so you can have a proper lunch on route, or upon arriving on site, wait until the weather is better before having to fill the external tank. Internal selection of water source (outside tank or inside tank). No wider than a small car so no need for additional mirrors.
No exposed wires or pipes in lockers - all safely designed to be out of harm's way. Extremely comfortable high backed and contoured seating that folds down to create completely flat beds with 'Reflex' foam to ensure a good nights sleep. A Porta Potti can be stowed in a dedicated locker, it can be used at night between the kitchen units, or outside in the awning if required. The kitchen unit worktops are set at a comfortable normal domestic height, so no stooping required!
Long service life;
We have designed the Sprintaway to have a very long service life (in excess of 25 years) with a hot dipped galvanized chassis, fibreglass body and lightweight poplar 12 mm (1/2") plywood furniture, there is nothing flimsy here! The elevating roof lining is a reinforced PVC (as is used for marquees) so the roof can be lowered when wet without leaking inside, unlike canvas.
Resale value (residuals);
Superior build quality, garageability, and of course a careful owner will ensure that the Sprintaway will retain a far larger percentage of it's initial purchase price for many years to come than is usual for caravans. High quality components and equipment; 110 amp auxiliary battery, compressor fridge - maintenance free and exceptionally easy to use. Solar panel. Very high quality automotive upholstery.
Warranty period is 12 months.
Please note; the price includes on the road charges C.R.I.S. registration, windows etched with chassis number, electronic security tag, and delivery to anywhere on the U.K. mainland as far north as Glasgow/Edinburgh, we are happy to travel further, price on application.
Wheelhome's proprietor, Stephen Wheeler, will tow your Sprintaway on the road with a car (not lorry) to your home where he will give a comprehensive demonstration and hand-over, we do however ask for your understanding that due to weather conditions this may mean the exterior of the Sprintaway is not presented as clean as it was when it left our premises.
