Temple Newsam House, Grounds and amphitheatre

Located less than a mile from Whitkirk is the fine Jacobean house known as Temple Newsam. Set in one of the largest parks in Europe, there is a rare breed farm and also an amphitheatre where shows have been performed in the open air since 1984.

Lots of pictures, including the Leeds Festival 2002, are available in the Whitkirk site Picture Gallery

In 2002, there was again some Shakespeare in the amphitheatre.
