Brightstone is a pretty village with thatched cottages a plenty. The older part of the Village is actually the hamlet of Limerstone, but it's hardly distinguishable from Brightstone.

Because there was a priory here there are religious connections. The Three Bishops pub is named in honour of three clerics who've once lived in the village. Samuel Wilberforce, son of William of anti-slavery fame, Bishop Ken, who wrote some famous hymns, and the lesser known Doctor Moberley.

The countryside around Brightstone is very beautiful and great for walking. Coach tours often stop in the village to bring trade to the tea-gardens. What a shame, as the best way to experience the village is get a map and try some of the walks around the village and the nearby shoreline which is very rich in fossils.
