The church has a restored mural from the fifteenth century, depicting the crucified Christ on triple branched Lilly.

Princes Beatrice, daughter of Queen Victoria, used to stop at Essex cottage for refreshments on her island tours. It is still a delightful tea gardens today.

Godshill is a pretty village which attracts visitors by the coach load. But, away from the tourist attractions, the 'hill' in Godshill is still unspoilt, and so photogenic that it's definitely worth a visit.

On top of the hill is Godshill's church, which is the village's glory, surrounded as it is by postcard pretty thatched cottages. According to local folklore the church was to be built at the bottom of the hill, but overnight the stones were mysteriously placed at the top of the hill. The Stonemasons apparently took the hint and built the church at the top of the hill.

Parts of of the town bear the hallmarks of the owners of Appledurcombe mansion in nearby Wroxall. The mansion is a now a ruin but still impressive all the same. Some of its past residents have included the Worseley's, and Lord Yarbourough. The church if full of references to past owners of the mansion. The tourist attractions of note are the Model Village and Godshill Cider Barn.
