It was cold ... very cold !! This year must go down as one of the chilliest JK's in recent years which I guess was always on the cards being so early in the year. Despite the Arctic gales and driving snow, most folk seemed to almost enjoy the weekend, and full marks to the hardy soles who organised the events in such adverse weather. A big thank you from us all ... job well done. Team GO had some rock solid results with pride of place going to Dan Couldery for a win on M10B, brother Chris for 3rd on M12B, David Abrams 3rd on M18E and James Crawford for his outstanding 2nd on M50L against some tough competition. Well done to them all. Roll on the Spring and some warm weather ..... brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Latest standings after 8 events should appear soon ... we hope. Only one more event now at Winterfold. Could this be a decider for honours this year ... watch this space.
David Abrams continued his fine form on Sunday winning the M18 class at the years first National Event held at Big Wood. It was a very strong field as the event was also a Future Champions Cup event, attracting runners from all parts of the UK. Well run David and lets hope the good form continues throughout the year.
Latest standings will be posted when James gets back from yet another holiday !! Mexico this time. What a life !!
Congratulations are in order to Keith Tonkin for winning the M50L title at the British Night Championships in the Forest of Dean on Saturday night. Well run Keith. You can put the spotlights back onto the Suburu now !!
What a fabulous area. If you didn't venture out onto Holmbury Hill you missed one of the best events for ages. The forest was runnable virtually everywhere, and well planned courses kept you running hard (if you could) and often direct through one of the best forests in the South East. Well done and thanks LOK (and also to our very own Tim Pugh (Controller)) for keeping the rain at bay this year and a splendid days sport.
Seems like the BBC have been taking note of our predictions that David Abrams is one of the stars of the future. David was spotted on the BBC on Saturday morning taking part in one of the Wednesday afternoon Army events. David had the chance to say a few words and sold the sport very well. Concentration ... I knew I was failing somewhere!! Mind you, I think I would have taken a route around the fallen tree and not gone direct, but it wouldn't have made very good viewing. You can watch the coverage which is now on You Tube by clicking here. Keep it up David. Next stop Holly Wood !!!

It didn't rain ... but the wind was cold!! We hope you all enjoyed your sortie onto Woolbeding Common and had good runs. It is such a good area, and being drier than the last visit for BOC it was certainly less slippery and muddy on the rides. Pete Couldery masterminded some excellent courses ... well done Pete, and being an idle bystander near the finish at times I heard nothing but positive comments which is always nice. As well as a big thank you to Pete, a big thank you as well to Neil Crickmore for his cool controlling, and Jeremy "Uhuru" Wilde, who fresh back from his cold holiday on top of Kilimanjaro, rushed back to make sure that the event ran like clockwork ... which it seemed to do. Thank you all for coming and we hope to see you again at the next GO event ...
Training Runs ... back on the roads again. Tuesdays - 7.00 p.m. at The Herons, Haslemere. Thursdays - 7.30 p.m. at The Spectrum, Guildford.

There are links on this page that will tell you in more detail a little bit about the club, who we are
and what we do, so please check out those pages for a more complete picture.
In brief, Guildford Orienteers .. GO, have been in existence since the early 1960's, and are one of
the older and more established clubs in the UK. We are not a big club, but we still manage to stage
a number of first class events each season, and we have a fair number of active competitors who race
most weekends during the main Orienteering season.
You don't have to live in Guildford to be a member of GO,
and the club has members throughout the South East of the country, so don't let the name deter you from
contacting the club if you are interested in Orienteering and would like to join a club in the South East.
Enjoy the web pages, and we hope to see you in the future, either at
GO events, and / or as a fellow club
member.
