October 2005 : 2006 GO Club Championships

Club Captain Christine Kiddier writes ...
The club championship is changing this year. In an effort to make things fairer and to get more of you involved, the championship will not be decided on one performance, but the best of four from the following events :-

13th November : SN Regional Event : Ash Ranges
27th November : SLOW Regional Event : Esher Common
4th December : MV District event : Banstead Heath
15th January : SO District Event : Broadstone Warren ... Note : Tilgate used instead as venue changed.
22nd January : BADO District Event : Chawton Park .... EVENT CANCELLED
19th February : HH Regional Event : Burnham Beeches
12th March : SO Regional Event : Selhurst Park, Arundel
9th April : SN Compass Sport Cup (and presumably trophy) : Wisley

In the Regional Events, run in your age group as per normal. I will work out the points from the results. In the District Events, you need to run the following, or run a higher course:-

    Brown : M21+
    Blue : W21+ and M45+ / M20-
    Green : W45+ / W20-/ M60+
    Light Green : M/W18-
    Orange : W/M14-

The points are based on mins/km, and the best four will count, so you can run in as few as four events, or all of them, or anything in between. Good luck.

15th January 2005 : Dune hopping in Holland ... 26th - 28th March 2005

Request from UZO Orienteering the Netherlands ...

    Orienteering friends!
From 26 until 28 of March we organize an international orienteering event in the dunes of the Hague (the Netherlands). We can offer you terrific terrain (the most difficult terrain of the Netherlands with many many details and great variation in vegetation) with new maps of high quality. The competitions will be held very close together and close to accommodations thus offering the possibility to go to the competitions without needing a car. The Hague is easy to reach by train, boat or plane ( via Schiphol airport). The Hague offers a wide variety of cultural sightseeing possibilities combined with the North Sea beach only two kilometers away!! Also the famous flower bulb area is only 30 kilometers away and the competition is just in its season.

We would like to ask you to inform the people of your club of this possibility by placing our link ( http://www.nolb.nl/~holland3d/ ) on your site and/or maybe consider coming!

Hope to see you at eastern 2005 at the 3-days of Holland in the Hague!
    Warm orienteering greetings!

    Mietta Groeneveld
    UZO Orienteering the Netherlands

9th January 2005 : Outward Bound ... a request

We have received the following request from the Outward Bound organisation ... "Dear Secretary
I am writing to ask for your help with placing an article in your newsletter or website. I work for The Outward Bound Trust, which has shaped the lives of thousands of people.

We have created a Roll of Honour for people who completed courses and been a part of Outward Bound since 1941. So far this project has been very successful, but with your help we can each out to more ex-participants and staff members who have experienced an Outward Bound course. Attached to this document is a small announcement. If you could find room for it in your next newsletter I would be very grateful. If you wish to find out more about the Roll of Honour, then visit our website. Thank you for your help."
