I
am making a list of books I have read on web technology subjects, global
business and the technology lifestyle. At the moment I only have short
descriptions and comments, but I hope to write proper full reviews soon
(all of the books listed below I have read). If you are looking for a
large selection of computer/Internet related books try The Amazon.com
Computers & Internet book list. For purchasing online you
may be interested in reading our Amazon.com
service agreement, or for new customers a guide on How
to Order at Amazon.com the company that will sell you the following
titles:
I have listed
other books in the following sections. My favourite books are shown below:
My favourite
books:
| The
Seven Habits of Highly Effective People - Steven R. Covey |
|
If
you are looking to get more out of life then this makes an excellent
read. It covers many topics, from business related issues, to marriage,
children and personal private victories. First published in 1990 is
has remained as one of the most popular books in personal change around
the world. It takes you through the seven steps to organising and
getting more fulfilment from your life. With ideas that make sense
the book demonstrates "simplicity without being simple".
I was hooked from the moment I picked it up. Give it a go, its a small
price to pay for a book that can help you realise your potential.

| Designing
Web Usability - Jakob Nielsen - BEST BUY |
![Designing Web Usability - Front Cover [5k]](../../utility/amazon/webusability.gif) |
This
is one of the best books I have read on designing web sites.
Most other web design books are filled with rubbish about designing
"artistic" sites. This book is not. It provides a serious
analysis of what goes into making a web site that will provide your
users with the functions/content that you want. It covers all the
major subject areas and is a brilliant read.
Contents
Include:

- International

- Future
Predictions for the Web
- Conclusion:
Simplicity in Web Design
Recommended
for people just getting into web sites to business managers who
need to get a grasp of design for their company intranet. I couldn't
recommend it more.

Dynamic HTML - Scott Isaacs |
![Inside DHTML - Front Cover [11k]](../../utility/amazon/indhtml.gif) |
Inside
DHTML is one of the best books I have read on DHTML. It takes you
through the features that Microsoft introduced in it's Microsoft Internet
Explorer 4 browser. It teaches you CSS, and refines any JavaScript
skills you have. You can pick up both from the book. This is well
set out and a good and easy read. |

| Web
Publishing With HTML 4 (In a Week) - Laura Lemay |
![HTML 4 - Front Cover [7k]](../../utility/amazon/llemaywebpub4.gif) |
I
did not read this specific book, I did read however, Web Publishing
with HTML 3.2 in a week, by the same author. I found the book easy
to use, it covered all I needed to know. It wasn't a wonderful read,
unlike the DHTML book, but it will guide you through what you need
to know. Some critical comments of it have been that it only has about
60 pages on the new HTML 4 features, but its covering of HTML should
be good. |
