Redundant J. C. Bishop Organ

An organ was built for Rev. C. Pritchard in 1847 by J. C. Bishop, for the chapel of Clapham Grammar School. As a result of the chapel being enlarged, the organ was increased from two to three manuals in 1858, each from CC - F, 54 notes,. Provision was made for the bottom octaves of the Swell and Choir manuals (both tenor c compass) to play notes of the Great Stopped Diapason and Dulciana.
Some time before 1923, the organ was moved from the chapel of Clapham Grammar School to Holy Trinity Church, Southend when ‘improvements’ were made. Modest repairs were carried out in 1923 by Bishop & Son. Nothing further is known of the organ until it became redundant in about 1980, when it was bought by Gerard Verloop to save it from destruction. It was removed to Holland, where it was placed in storage. It has now been returned to England and is currently stored at the John Loosemore Centre in Buckfastleigh, awaiting relocation and restoration. It is proposed to provide the organ with a new case, using the original front pipes.  The Choir Organ, formerly a small, short-compass division, would be re-made.  The new specification could be:
