GUIDED READING BOOKS ARE USED IN A TEACHER LED GROUP ACTIVITY. CHILDREN CONCENTRATE ON KEY WORDS, SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION, PUNCTUATION AND OTHER POINTS OF GRAMMAR.
THIS IS A VALUABLE READING TOGETHER TIME AND IT ALSO PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR SILENT READING, DEVELOPMENT OF COMPREHENSION SKILLS, ETC.
OTHER GROUPS WORK INDEPENDENTLY.
THESE ARE VERY IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF LITERACY HOUR.

SHARED READING (BIG BOOKS) THESE ARE USED FOR A WHOLE CLASS ACTIVITY. TEACHING CONCENTRATES ON:
