INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Wimborne Infant School where we all work together to encourage each child to achieve their best. Each child is the focal point for whom the school exists.

The staff are delighted to welcome you and your child to Wimborne. We aim to make school a place where children feel happy and secure and develop the confidence to try to do and achieve their best.

Close co-operation between home and school is essential, not only educationally, but in all aspects of your child's development. Great effort is made to ensure this by keeping you informed of what is happening at School and about your child's overall progress and development.

It is important that any matters at home which may affect your child's behaviour, attitude, or performance at School are made known to us. We aim to provide a stimulating 'learning environment' where children are able to extend their abilities, and interests and develop positive attitudes about themselves and others.

The School is a vital part of the community. As members of this children learn caring and concern as part of their development as citizens.

The School has always seen parents as co-educators of their children. This ensures greater understanding and a shared accountability of your child's progress. The school has an 'Open Door' policy so parents are free to approach the Headteacher or class teacher to discuss anything concerning their child's well-being.

At certain times the Headteacher may contact parents to discuss concerns or worries that may arise in school.

N.B. It is important to come well before the start of the school day if you wish to see a teacher. As you can appreciate, once children enter classrooms at 9.00 a.m. all staff are fully occupied!
