Designs
are initially produced in response to enquiries or Invitation to Tender
received from potential clients.
The
design is developed through clarification and contractual negotiations
leading up to the finalisation of the design up to award of contract. The
compilation of a contract design incorporates the clients final requirements
and refines the design sufficiently to ensure that all relevant mandatory
conditions are complied with and sufficient information is available
that a contract can be entered into in complete confidence.
The
General Arrangement drawing (GA) can then be produced which shows the sizes
and positions in the vessel of the various compartments which are necessary
for the ship to fulfill its duties. The GA forms the basis for all design
development. Once the dimensional parameters have been decided,
compartmentation and allocation of space for the various functions can then
be arranged. The contract GA is now complete.
