A Sample Tour - Michigan

Day 1: Depart for Detroit Metro airport or Local Michigan Regional airport where the group will be met by John Zimmerle and driven to Wolverine Camps.
Day 2: An afternoon trip to nearby Petoskey, by Lake Michigan, followed with an evening lecture about the History and Archaeology of the Straits of Mackinac.
Day 3: Visit to Colonial Michilimackinac and the archaeological excavation at Fort Michilimackinac.
Day 4: The entire day will be spent on Mackinac Island including visiting Fort Mackinac.
Day 5: A visit to Mill Creek Historical Park.
Day 6: At Wolverine Camps: Challenge Ropes Course to be held at the Outdoor Education Centre.
Day 7: A visit to the Little Traverse Historical Society at Petoskey.
Day 8: Commence tour of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We will spend the night at Fort Wilkins State Historical Park on the Keweenaw Peninsula of Lake Superior.
Day 9: Drive from Fort Wilkins to Fayette Historical Park. On the way back to Wolverine, cookout at the Cut River Bridge overlooking the Straits of Mackinac.
Day 10: Day tour to Hartwick Pines State Park.
Day 11: Tour to Father Marquette Historical Park at the Straits of Mackinac, AM. Tour to the Museum of Ojibwa (Chippewa) Culture in St Ignace, Michigan, PM.
Day 12: Depart Wolverine for the State capital Lansing and Detroit. A visit will be made to the State Capitol buildings and the Michigan Historical Museum at the Michigan Historical Center. Evening: A possible Detroit Tiger American League Baseball game at Comerica Park, Detroit.
Day 13: A visit to Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. Evening: A possible music concert in Detroit or Lansing.
Day 14: Optional Tour of the Cranbrook Institute, Detroit or activities in Lansing. Afternoon/Evening: Depart from Local Michigan Regional airport or Detroit Metro airport. (+1 day arrival at European destinations)

There will be evening lectures organised most evenings: for example on raptorial birds, native wild foods or the logging era in Northern Michigan. Activities such as canoeing and swimming are available during free time at Wolverine Camps.
