He will then accompany us for the rest of the day, describing and explaining the sites being visited and how they were part of the Bronze Age culture.

The visit will include a walk around Silbury Hill, walking the Avebury Stone Circle and going into the Long Barrow.

In the morning, we shall travel direct to Avebury where apart from the stone circle, there is an explanatory museum for the site, a manor house and a medieval church to be viewed. We will also be taking lunch there. After lunch, weather permitting, it is intended to walk from Avebury to the base of Silbury Hill - alternative coach transport will be available - taking in the views on the way. Then across the road and on up a track to the West Kennet Long Barrow. Later we shall retrace our steps back to the road and then board our coach for the return journey to Bagshot.

Please arrive by 9.15am on the Saturday morning and park in the Pantiles car park at the far end. The coach will be in the bay at the front of the Archaeology Centre from 9.00am and will leave promptly at 9.30am. We anticipate arrival at Avebury by 11.30am. We shall depart from West Kennet by 4.30pm for a return to Bagshot by 6.00pm. A picnic lunch is advised, although it will be possible to purchase refreshments in Avebury.
