CHIMNEY POTS
TO BOOTSCRAPERS

This is a "History on our Doorstep" project, funded by the Local Heritage Initiative. It is a guide to the architecture of the Victorian and Edwardian terrace houses of Wolverton. The guide, written by John Brushe, Denise Ilett and Sue Westell, contains informative descriptions of the distinctive features of the local terraced housing. There are useful tips on the maintenance and restoration of these features, and it is lavishly illustrated with watercolour paintings by Denise Ilett.

The funding has enabled every property in the Conservation Area to receive a free copy. Schools will also receive a supply for classroom projects, and local estate agents will also receive supplies for new residents.

Wolverton Library has agreed to hold, in the reference section, information on the restoration of houses in the Wolverton Conservation Area. This includes the names of local builders, reclamation yards and craftspeople, and a comprehensive selection of leaflets about grants, specialist manufacturers and specialist materials stockists.

The 16-page, full colour, A4 booklet costs £2, and can be obtained from Wolverton Library, St Andrew's Books and the Living Archive.
