Tommy used to work for the Co-op Dairy during the Fifties and was very popular with Wolverton residents. Eventually he was to be withdrawn from service as milk companies were phasing out horse drawn floats. However, many residents were concerned that he was to be sold to a farm where it was feared he would be worked too hard. A number of residents decided to club together to raise the money to purchase Tommy. He was then retired to a farm in Calverton.
Tommy is now commemorated in one of the Town Trail markers near the old stables in Church Street (see the Other Projects page).
