Rank Hovis have paid for the restoration of the vintage "Hovis" sign on the side of the former "Brighton Bakery" in Church Street. They were approached by Wolverton Society for Arts & Heritage Secretary, Denise Ilett who asked them if they would be prepared to fund the restoration of the sign. A package of information about both the sign and the building was sent to Rank Hovis. Paul and Susan Perry-Whitehead who live in the townhouse converted from the former bakehouse were also very keen to see the distintive design restored.
Sign writer Robert Naghi carried out the work. Robert took notes and sketches in advance so that layout and wording was restored exactly. Some other examples of Robert's skills are apparent in some of the signage in the shopfronts improvements. It is very pleasing to see the sign now restored in all its glory bringing back a feature of local character to the building, side alley and Church Street.
