This is one of our more dramatic shopfronts improvements largely down to the enthusiasm and committment of Paul, the proprietor. Although this property had a shopfronts grant, Paul invested considerably as he wanted to get the job done properly and in keeping with the heritage of the area.
This property had lost all of its original features and had a very ungainly box at fascia level. This was obviously a redundant light box which had been continually boarded over together with the complete shopfront.
Paul agreed to completely strip off the ugly wooden protrusions and get the the shopfront down to basics and to reinstate traditional features.
A traditional fascia was created to match in with the neighbouring properties. Gaps were filled in where features had been removed and panels created in line with a traditional style shopfront.
A warm terracotta colour was chosen together with cream, ocre and deep green on the signage.
The handpainted sign gives a delightfully nostalgic appearance which really complements the deep fascia.
Incidentally, it says a lot for Paul's enthusiasm that he commisioned a wonderful handpainted wooden hanging banner sign for the interior together with a traditional wooden wall clock.
