As stated in write up for Shoe Sales it was decided to regard Donato's, Shoe Sales and Masonic Hall as one building to give unified scheme, (see Shoe Sales write up). Donato had the problem of a rather large area of boarded up window adjacent on 2 sides to his salon. This corner site has been very vulnerable to vandalism which means Donato had little choice but to install shutters (which he does not regard as an ideal situation). This obviously gave a very blank look at night.

Donato and "his girls" had an extensive consultation about colour options and all liked the "deep indian red". This Edwardian colour is more of a red brown shade which complements the terracotta bricks. This is teamed with the Edwardian cream colour no.7.

Donato wanted to give some additional shape and detail to his window and door so added some blanking off curves (on inside). Arch effects in cream now add some character and detail. Brass door furniture enhance the glossy red-brown shade of the door.

Shutters have been thoroughly treated and primed before being painted to match door. Blanked off windows also painted to match.

Hand painted signage adds life and character. Type face used is an art nouveau style suited to age of building. This gives a properly thought out finishing touch to the scheme. Cream colour entrance area to left of the door now has a "lady with flowing tresses" design.
