This shopfront is a very attractive Edwardian shopfront boasting many fine original features. These features had been marred by many years of over painting, in particular the original Edwardian brown glazed tiles and the fine stonework at the head of the pillasters.
The tiles and stonework have now been stripped of paint. The window surrounds have been renovated and painted a soft cream which emphasises the tile and natural stone. The fascia has also been restored and painted . Hand-painted signage in Edwardian Oxford blue, silver and subtle shading in a lighter blue (Edwardian shade 28) is a significant part of the scheme. This should draw emphasis to the attractive embossed glass upper panes of the shopfront.
The shopfront now forms a very attractive part of the Conservation Area and many local residents have expressed appreciation over how attractive it looks now that it has been restored.
