This shopfront had previously been varnished which gave a rather dull effect and did not complement the blond brickwork plinth. The sign was on a board that was not suited to the shape of the fascia.

It was decided that it would be better to regard Shoe Sales, Donato's and the Masonic Hall as a single entity for a co-ordinating scheme as they formed a definite group in one building. An Edwardian colour "deep indian red" was popular with Donato and "his girls" and Shoe Sales decided to go with it too. Edwardian no.7 is the cream used. New brass number looks good against glossy red-brown.

Hand painted signage fills fascia and draws emphasis to architectural details previously lost. The flow of lettering style with subtle shading colour really gives character to this scheme.

The Masons kindly agreed to paint the Masonic Hall to match the shopfronts. Many thanks to them for their support, which has helped to co-ordinate this building.
