Pentyrch Village Hall was built in 1976, an ambitious project achieved by the efforts of local residents. The Hall still belongs to the community, and is a registered charity - maintained solely by income from lettings and from fundraising. The building comprises a large hall (seated capacity c180) and stage, a smaller committee room (the Norman Follis Room), and a fully-equipped kitchen. It is the centre for a variety of activities for community groups of all ages, and a popular venue for all kinds of events and social gatherings from Pentyrch and outside the village.
The Hall, with its adjoining squash court, is run by a voluntary Management Committee which includes representatives of organisations using the buildings on a regular basis. The efforts of the community to build and maintain the Hall have been recognised by the awarding of two MBEs - the first to the late Norman Follis, who led the campaign to build the hall over thirty years ago; the second, in the 2009 New Year Honours list, to Barbara Rodd, Pentyrch Village Hall President, in recognition of her work towards maintaining and improving the buildings over several years.
