Gardeners' Question Time comes to Pentyrch

On 17 November 2008, Pentyrch Open Gardens welcomed the BBC Radio 4 Gardeners' Question Time team to Pentyrch Village Hall.

Eric Robson chaired the team of expert gardeners, consisting of Chris Beardshaw (some ladies swooned!), Anne Swithinbank and John Cushnie.

200 keen local gardeners packed the Village Hall for the evening, and heard two programmes recorded for broadcast on 9 and 11 January, and 6 and 8 February 2009.  The audience submitted their questions as they entered the hall, and the producer chose which ones would be asked.  The celebrity garden experts had no prior knowledge of the selected questions, and truly impressed the audience with their expertise and quick wits.

Helen Edwards from Pentyrch Open Gardens had written to invite the team back in 2005, and was delighted when, in June 2008, they agreed to come.  All went smoothly on the night thanks to the expert organisation and hard work of Helen, Jeanette Troughton and a band of helpers.

What an interesting and informative night.
