NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate is an examined basic qualification for people who have a full-time responsibility for routine day-to-day advice on health, safety and welfare matters in construction work.

The programme of study is based on the philosophy that an understanding of construction safety and health needs to be underpinned by an understanding of the general principles of occupational safety and health that apply to all places of work. For this reason the scheme requires candidates to have successfully completed the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.

Entry Criteria

The examination is available to candidates on provision of satisfactory documentary evidence that they hold one or more of the following:

Candidates who do not hold an exempting qualification at the time of registration cannot take the Construction examination. This means that candidates who have recently taken the NEBOSH General Certificate and results have not yet been issued, may not register for the Constructuion Certificate examination.

Examinations

The Construction Certificate examinations consist of one written paper [paper B] and a practical assessment [part C].
The written paper is set and marked by NEBOSH and covers safety and health management in construction work, and is examined to a higher level than the NEBOSH General Certificate. The time allowed for the written paper is three hours.
The practical assessment is set and marked by Woodward SHE Ltd to a standard laid down and moderated by NEBOSH.

Course Programme

The programme will be delivered using an open learning model, however course delegates will attend 10 tutored workshop days, plus one day to complete examinations.
