Wyrley went into this game on the back of a five game winning streak having scored 26 goals in the process - however, noone expected a victory of this magnitude against a workmanlike Aldridge side lying three places beneath them in the table.
The early period of the game saw a battle royal being waged in midfield with neither team showing much composure and Wyrley giving possession away cheaply with a succession of over-ambitious passes.
Karl Deeley - playing on the right in place of the injured Matthew Grendon - had an early shot saved at the near post after having robbed an Aldridge player of possession. The Aldridge keeper was active again a few minutes later when he was beaten to a ball by Matthew Anstey who shot wide.
However, Wyrley nearly paid for their poor start to the game when a long-range Aldridge effort hit the post with Mark Biddulph in the Wyrley goal beaten. Five minutes later, Jordan Clarke returned the compliment by hitting the woodwork at the other end with Thomas Evans unable to convert the rebound.
On 25 minutes, the deadlock was broken when Matthew Anstey ran onto an excellent ball from Jordan Clarke to score Wyrley's first. Two minutes later, Simon Casserley added a second with an excellent individual effort. He controlled a poor clearance from an Adam Nicholls' corner and then dribbled his way along the edge of the box before beating the keeper with an exquisite left foot lob.
Karl Deeley put the ball narrowly wide on 35 minutes when he met a Jordan Clarke cross at the far post.
Jordan Clarke was involved again two minutes later when he got free on the left. From his intelligent pass, Simon Casserley shot against the bar with Matthew Anstey cleverly dummying the keeper to put away the rebound, but the goal was adjudged offside.
Although Wyrley had had the better of the play in the first half, some poor passing and a lack of movement off the ball meant that a certain amount of improvement was called for during the half-time interval.
Half-time: Aldridge 0 - Wyrley 2
In the second half, Luke Brown was brought on on the right side of midfield to provide some width to the Wyrley attack. However, it was Aldridge who started the second more brightly with a shot over the bar after five minutes.
After this early scare, Wyrley started to exert more control on the game. Luke Brown began to make his presence felt with forays and crosses down the right. Nine minutes into the half, Wyrley extended their lead when Matthew Anstey scored his second of the game when he was put through on the left by a through ball from Adam Nicholls. He dribbled his way near to the bye-line and shot from an acute angle. The keeper managed to get a hand to the shot but only succeeded in diverting the ball over his own goal-line with Thomas Evans closing in.
On 58 minutes, the game was put firmly beyond Aldridge when first Luke Brown scored with a cooly taken low drive beyond the despairing dive of the Aldridge keeper; followed a minute later by a well-taken shot by Matthew Anstey who had run forward onto his own headed ball from a Luke Moseley cross to make the score 0-5 to Wyrley.
Adam Nicholls then went close himself when he clipped the bar direct from a corner. Moments later, Karl Deeley - the other Wyrley fullback - got himself on the scoresheet after Luke Brown failed to make headed contact with Karl's long ball forward which found its way under the Aldridge keeper's body and into the net.
Simon Casserley made the score 0-7 on 68 minutes when quick feet and quick thinking allowed him to jink his way past three Aldridge defenders into the penalty area and pass the ball into the net.
Aldridge were looking increasingly demoralised as the score mounted and Wyrley chances came thick and fast.
Thomas Evans finally got on the scoresheet in the 71st minute when he latched onto a ball from Karl Deeley that the Aldridge keeper failed to hold to make the score 0-8.
Simon Casserley nearly got his third of the game when his header from an Adam Nicholls corner was cleared on the line. A low shot across the face of goal from this clearance was met by Jason Dennerley at the far post who just failed to make contact.
Between them, Thomas Evans and Jordan Clarke scored five goals in the last 12 minutes of the game. Thomas Evans added to his first when he rounded two players to score his second and Wyrley's ninth on the 75th minute. A minute later, Jordan Clarke scored his first of the game when he ran onto a through ball and scored with a shot which went between the keeper's legs.
Thomas Evans scored his hat-trick to make the score 0-11 when he took advantage of the rebound after Simon Casserley had headed an Aldridge clearance towards their own goal. Jordan Clarke then wrapped up the performance when scored his second and Wyrley's twelfth when he scored at the far post after a pass by Edward Marrocco.
To score ten goals within 40 minutes is no mean achievement however, it was the manner in which this was achieved that is most pleasing as Wyrley continued to play as a team with noone trying to do more on his own than could be achieved by passing to other members of the team. This team ethic was reflected in the fact that the twelve goals were scored by six different players with noone scoring more than three goals.
This aspect of this performance was further emphasised by the fact that Wyrley kept a clean sheet by defending as a team when required.
What should not be forgotten was it took 50 minutes for Wyrley to gain control of this game. Jason Dennerley, Todd Wootton, Adam Nicholls, Luke Moseley had had to work extremely hard to contain a lively Aldridge attack during the first period when the Wyrley midfield of Edward Marrocco, Jordan Clarke, Karl Deeley, Thomas Evans and Simon Casserley were battling hard to gain the upper hand. It was on the basis of this hard work and determination early in the game that this record Wyrley victory was achieved.
