SCUD-B PLAN PAK
Saddam Hussein's "secret weapon" in the Persian Gulf
conflict, the Soviet-built Scud missile was no match for the faster, more nimble
Patriots. Designed to carry high explosive, Chemical/Biological,or low
yield nuclear warheads, the Scud proved to be less of a threat than was
previously feared. The launchers were often detected and taken out before
the missile could even be readied for firing, and if it did get launched, modern
computer triangulation ensured the same launcher seldom fired again. This
version, the SS-1c, used improved inertial guidance, and is the Scud version
most often exported to Warsaw Pact nations.
Completely redesigned for the 1994 catalog, our lightweight
1/8.37 scale model stands an enormous 52.9" tall and measures more than a
foot in circumference! Even so, the two (or four) "D" motors
used to lift this monster will put it nearly out of sight! Our design
calls for a "stage-and-a-half" motor arrangement similar to that of
the early Atlas missile. The result is incredible performance for a rocket
this size. Recovery is by a large 24" parachute, with tumble recovery
for the optional plug-on Booster Housing (plans for Booster Housing are included
in the Plan-Pak). Shown here is Iraqi desert camouflage, but also looks
great with the original dark green paint job and Soviet markings.
Length: 52.9"
Diameter: 4.0"

Booster: D12-0 (pair)
Sustainer or single stage use: D12-5 (pair) or D12-7 (pair)
