Originally built as a Coaching Inn in the 16th Century, Lea House has been completely refurbished but still retains many of its original features. A large inglenook fireplace, loads of exposed beams and not a straight line in sight characterise this homely resting place where you will be offered a warm welcome, complemented by Caroline's renowned home cooking.

Set in the small village of Lea just 4 miles from the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye and only a short drive from the Cathedral cities of Gloucester and Hereford, Lea House is ideally situated for enjoying the many local beauty spots. It's within sight of the Royal Forest of Dean and adjacent to the spectacular Wye Valley, an Area of The Cider Room.Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it an ideal base for those looking to enjoy any of many outdoor activities the area has to offer.

The accommodation is of a high standard and includes three well appointed bedrooms: The Hayloft is a spacious and airy room with a canopied 5 ft. king-size bed with sofa and TV, making it an ideal place to relax at the end of the day. The sofa can also sleep two and a further foldaway bed can be made available. It also has an en suite shower. The Granary has an extra king-size double bed (or two twin beds) and features a black iron fireplace and antique pine furniture, TV and an en suite shower. The Cider Room is another large room with oak beams and a window seat. It has twin beds, TV and a private bathroom with bath & shower next door, with bathrobes available. Prices range from £29.50 to £34 per person per night. All the rooms have beverage trays with a selection of tea, herb teas and coffee, and a biscuit jar. There are hot water bottles, a good range of bathroom toiletries, an alarm clock and a hairdryer in each room. Also available on request are a trouser press, an iron & board, shoe-cleaning kit, use of the telephone and a laundry service. The breakfast room.Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and can be exercised in the field opposite, there is a single charge of £6 per dog.

With many years experience Caroline has achieved a reputation for providing excellent food and has recently been awarded an 'Egg Cup' by the AA which denotes the very best quality breakfast. Usually served between 7.30am and 9.00am. there is a wide selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurt, fresh fruit juice, locally made sausages and a full English breakfast. The breads are homemade as are the jams and marmalade. Vegetarian and other special dietary needs are catered for, with prior notice. Guests are welcome to dine in, with anything from a light snack to a 3 course meal on offer, all freshly prepared and using local produce wherever possible. For those that wish to venture out there are several pubs and restaurants just a short drive from Lea House and menus for these are available.

Caroline is also co-chair of the local Tourism Association and is happy to lend you local OS maps, help plan your visit to the area and give recommendations for what to see and do. Whatever time of year you choose to visit you are sure of a warm welcome at Lea House B. & B.
