Blewbury seems like any other smallish Oxfordshire village as you drive through it on the main road. But appearances can be deceptive. And CS proved the point as we spent well over half an hour meandering around the village, which included the church and the following words in large letters left for all to see: '... Dear Wife & Children, as you pass by as you are now so once was I. As I am now so must thou be. Therefore be prepared to follow me'. Nice man, eh.
And then, just as we began thinking that CS may have gone from one (long trail) extreme to another (short trail), we found ourselves crossing the Reading road for a long haul up to Churn Knob on Churn Hill before heading back down and the pub. 4.95 miles was the verdict from one of our GPS sporting hashers. Cracking trail though CS.
And I can't remember who to attribute this hash joke to as we went through the aforementioned church yard: 'The Dead Centre of the village'!!!. Was it Bolton Wanderer? Or was it CS Gas to remind us that whilst not there in body, Wee Joker was with us in mind!
A naming tonight: Young Luke, Bolton Wanderer jnr, got christened. His size, his love of the Wii Nintendo Games Console and his other passion, that of waffling incessantly, are all reflected in his Hash name: Wii Wee Waffler. It's a mouthfull, I know, but that is what you will be called henceforth, young man. Welcome to Didcot Hash.
