Buzz, I missed you off last week's Trash - you may only have been there for the chips but I shouldn't have missed you off. Sorry.
An interesting trail. Out of the pub to the Church (late 12 Century). Then up (literally) to the Ridgeway where we took a right and continued to climb, before turning back down just short of White Horse Hill. Some steep drops on that one, and very slippery. We came out on the road at Fawler but then had to get up the last 100-150 meetres of a very steep hill! Cruel.
A bit of a bugger, that one Ringer - though that's a purely personal view - others may not share it. But we did it - 4.8 miles the GPS merchants tell me - no wonder it was almost dark when we got back. And Ringer had talked about a not so long one and that he might add another loop on at the end! I'm glad he was a tail-ender. We did have a casualty tonight. Preppy took a fall and hurt her knee and S/Shoveller had to run a rescue mission.
Treacle Tart must have been reading the Trash the last couple of weeks, because Golden Shower produced a cake tin. Not only were there firsts but seconds and thirds too. And so into the pub for a well earned pint, be it of Coke, lemonade Hooky or whatever. And of course a Chef, who had been pre-warned, waiting for our Chip order. I don't think chips are his strong point - a look at the menu was enough to show why, but for those who could manage them after all the cake, there were enough. Village Idiot and Hash Hoody - two skinnies - where do they put it all. I don't know how many pieces of cake they had (we lost count) and then when the chips came, they couldn't get enough of them.
Now for those who were paying attention on the walk back to the pub, Lemony Snicket did point out her pad, the venue for the Hash barbie - it's only a few doors down from Preppie's - no doubt on the day she'll stick out a few ballons or some such like.
Next week, another change of venue. This time it's all very last minute. It's The Plough at East Hendred, a map is provided. S/Shoveller is the Hare. There are a couple of other venue changes so please, please, please check the Future Runs Page.
One last thing. Yours truly will not be around next week - I shall be chauffering a scout troop around the wilds of Cheshire. So could someone please do me the honours and e-mail me a few words and a list of the runners.
