It was a warm but breezy evening as we started to gather in the car park. However there were also some clouds up there too, and they looked rain-sodden. Most people had torches - lesson learnt from the last couple of weeks. The hare of course was Golden Shower. Not much of a breiefing this week except for a promise of cake when we got back and the fact that it wouldn't be too long. He did add that he hadn't pre-ordered the chips in case people wanted to take advantage of the curry night offers.

There's not much one can say about the trail except that the On was right out of the car park and then left, and the On Inn brought us out directly oposite the pub. Why? Within minutes of leaving the pub, we were in darkness. And that meant that most of the trail was covered at walking pace by most people. There were bits of the trail that we recognised from previous trails but we didn't take in the Nature Reserve as expected and generally, the land does take on a completely different look after dark and it's so easy to lose one's sense of direction. The trail included some distinct tracks, some fields, there was even shiggy, and towards the end of it, some woodland. There were trip hazards a-plenty and the torches were indeed needed. A pleasant trail, however - and only 3 1/2 miles long.

Which reminds me . . . Hash Hoody and the Village Idiot again excelled themselves at being silly, jumping out from behind trees in the dark, and that kind of thing. And then, Village Idiot came out with a CLASSIC! The question of how long the trail was came up. Golden Shower's reply to that was that it was just 3 1/2 miles roughly. 'Three and a half?' came back Village Idiot that's less then 3 1/4 - if you're bad at maths ! ! !' Hmmm . . .

Anyway, by 8.15 we were back in the car-park tucking away into some very gooey but very tasty chocolate cake. Beers were ordered and when everyone conmfirmed that chips were the choice, Golden Shower ordered and paid for them. When they came there were 5 big bowls of them and while not as big as last week they were a fair size and the quality was yummy. To complete the evening, the 'hashy' birthday song was sung, for Golden Shower's benefit, and he was given his bithday cards.

Next week. We're at The Black Horse, East Hanney - not a venue change. The Hares will be Eric and Lemony Snicket. Don't forget your torches, we will be running in the dark.
