When The Surgery Is Closed

If you need a doctor in an emergency when the surgery is closed, please phone Wells 836650. A recorded message will inform you how to contact the Somerset Out-of-Hours Medical Service which provides out-of-hours emergency cover for the whole of Somerset. In order to maintain prompt emergency cover this service must be reserved for those requiring urgent medical attention, not used for routine enquiries.

Minor Injuries Unit

Patients with minor injuries such as cuts, sprains and contusions should attend the Minor Injuries Unit at the West Mendip Hospital which has been commissioned by Mendip PCT as the sole local provider of this service.

Repeat Prescriptions

If you require medication regularly, we will arrange for you to receive a number of repeat prescriptions between appointments with the doctor. Repeat prescribing is largely computerised and such prescriptions have an attached re-order form. Please tick the drugs which you require and place the re-order form in the prescription post box inside the lobby. If you would like your prescription posted to you, please attach an s.a.e.

You can also phone Wells 836655 for repeat prescriptions. 

This line is only manned from 9.00am - 12.00 noon and 2.00pm - 4.00 pm Monday to Friday. Please do not ask the doctor for a list of repeat prescriptions during your consultation as this can delay other patients' appointments. All prescriptions will be ready after 2.00 pm the following working day. Prescriptions can also be delivered to any of the three chemists in Wells if you prefer.
