Bokun: HUMOUR
Old people's only saviour
A new view on ageing
This book explains the origin and potential of a
sense of humour, and how a sense of humour can help us to
reach a more balanced way of reasoning.
The book recommends to the elderly ways for going
about becoming a needed element of the community. Most
important of these is for them to assume the role of
guardian or representative of those not yet born, of future
generations, of the planet as a whole.
By helping the elderly to realise a better quality of
life, the book points out, young people and the middle-aged
would be helping themselves, their own future, their own old
age.
Above all, the book proposes a new theory of the
causes of ageing, giving suggestions on how people can
improve their senescence so that it becomes a less agitated
period of life, one to look forward to rather than
fear.
By reducing fear of old age, they would also greatly
reduce their mid-life crisis, which can be traumatic and
take ridiculous forms.
